Experience everything from 1940 biplane dogfights between Gladiators and CR-42s to clashes between sleek Macchis and rugged Kittyhawks in 1941-42. Pilot stubby Martlets, burly Hurricanes and graceful Spitfires and take on deadly Messerschmitts in this remote part of the globe. Desert Wings allows fighter athletes of all skill levels to test themselves in a historic campaign.

Fans of twin-engine bombers can also check out a wide range of new aircraft, from horizontal bombers to torpedo bombers, including several versions of the Wellington, the new Heinkel He-111 models and the versatile Ju-88. Also included are updated versions of the deadly Beaufighter heavy fighter, as well as its Luftwaffe counterpart, the Ju-88C, which debuted in four incredibly effective variants.

KEY FEATURE

1. Over 40 brand new flying types and variants have been added to DESERT WINGS – TOBRUK in addition to updated tropical versions of aircraft from CLIFFS OF DOVER, allowing players to recreate the campaign period from the early days to mid-1942.
2. The 385 km x 385 km map of North Africa recreates in great detail the strategic fortress of Tobruk and the rugged coastline, desert and sea that surround it, with over 75 airfields, numerous landmarks and cities, an extensive road system, and historical fortifications, minefields and fortifications.
3. Over 25 new types of tanks, artillery pieces, and vehicles have been added to the desert versions of the DUVER CLIFFS vehicles, enabling large-scale ground battles in great detail.
4. Naval ships of the Royal Navy, Regia Marina and Kriegsmarine are modeled, including massive battleships, as well as cruisers, destroyers, patrol boats, submarines, torpedo boats and merchant ships. Over 15 new ships in total, including British and Italian types historically accurate for the TOBRUK map, as well as German and British types usable on the original CLIFFS OF DOVER – BLITZ English Channel map.
5. New aircraft details are included, including dust effects for aircraft engines, new engine technologies such as nitrous oxide injection, and more accurate simulation of flight, damage, propeller, and overheating.
6. The main controls and switches in the cockpits are fully movable and clickable.
7. Improved graphics including all new anti-aliasing systems, increased view distance, improved terrain modeling and tessellation detail. Added new dust effects specifically designed for the desert map, as well as improved explosive, smoke, and particle effects.
8. The superb multiplayer environment allows over 100 players and dozens of AI aircraft to play at the same time, providing intense and challenging human-to-human air battles.
9. New AI routines and improved AI aircraft behavior make detailed single-player campaigns exciting for Regia Aeronautica, Luftwaffe and RAF pilots.
10. The updated mission builder provides the ability to create missions and campaigns created by players.
11. An opportunity for players to continue the English Channel campaign on the CLIFFS OF DOVER – BLITZ map with additional new types of aircraft, vehicles and ships covering the period from October 1940 to August 1941.
